Astronauts and Empty Space

This week is concerned with exploring the atheistic critique of God as a super-being. This is the most common critique of religion today, and is exemplified in the movement known as New Atheism. This is the type of atheism that we are likely most familiar with.

We’ll be starting here, partly because it is a familiar starting point, and because it willl provide an important foundation as we begin to explore a richer form of atheism that connects with the deepest veins of theology.

There is a huge amount of material that goes under what can be called New Atheism. But I’ll be arguing that one of the things that unifies them all, is that they are ‘non-dialectic’. An idea that will become clear in this weeks seminar.
