Sunken in the Depths of the Ocean

This week we enter into the first type of negative theology in Christianity. This type of negative theology was developed by the mystics and takes seriously the various critiques that have been made against the idea of God as a type of Supreme Being understood as a perfected image of ourselves. Mystical forms of negative theology embrace a form of atheism, and represent some of the earliest reflections on the positive relationship of atheism to theology.
