Before I ever wrote about the theory of pyrotheology, I spent almost twelve years with a group of incredible people, developing the ideas in a collective called ikon. First and foremost, pyrotheology was a practice or technology aimed at the positive transformation of individuals and groups.
Over three seminars I want to revisit this practical side of pyrotheology and explore what pyrotheology in community actually looks like. What would it mean to build a ‘community of the contradiction’ that expresses the core ideas we’ve explored together over the years? In terms of church, what would the music, rituals and preaching be like? And how would one judge success?
While there is no cookie cutter model for what such a community might look like, there are lots of examples to learn from, and plenty of pointers regarding the development of a healthy and dynamic group.
In these three seminars there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, discuss issues and throw around ideas.
