Welcome to the first Atheism for Lent seminar. This week I’ll be setting up the various reflections, by looking at various classical critiques that have been leveled against the religious understanding of God.

The popular religious understanding of God seeing the Absolute as a being that stands over the universe. Numerous thinkers since antiquity have attempted to show that this notion is either improbable, nonsensical or impossible.
