In the Depths of the Ocean

This week we explore the critique of God as Super-Being from a theological perspective. Historically speaking this involves a turn to the apophatic tradition in Christianity. This tradition - also called Negative Theology - was initially developed by the mystics and could be seen as among the first great critiques of the superstitious idea of God. Apophatic theology embraces one of the earliest forms of atheism, and represents some of the earliest reflections on the positive relationship of atheism to theology.
